Robert Frost wrote, "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, And that made all the difference." And that is what the theme of the 2012 conference is all about: Take the Road Less Traveled. Take risks with your writing; find that path that is unique to you. Writing is an adventure with lots of ups and downs and forks in the road, but in the end, it is a journey to be enjoyed.

Monday night, Nathan Lowell will explore some options for sales and promotion. He'll talk about the different strategies and how to tell which one is right for you. He'll break down the options and show you how and why each works.

This is not a course on how to set up a Twitter account or the advantages of Facebook over Pinterest. We'll discuss the strategic issues that need to be settled in order to use a blog effectively, or connect with Twitter. When you leave, you'll have the tools you need to chart your own course and take control of your social media presence regardless of the platform you choose.

In this workshop, author and writer’s coach Teresa R. Funke will teach you how to develop an ear for dialogue, with special emphasis on using dialogue to reveal character and propel your story forward. Through listening and writing exercises, you’ll learn how to “hear” when your dialogue is working and when it isn’t. We’ll also discuss pacing, tag lines, dialect and accents, humor, and most important, how to tighten your exchanges so every word counts.
